Abstract
Major depressive disorder (MDD) remains a leading cause of disability worldwide. Although validated tools such as the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) demonstrate strong diagnostic accuracy, their effectiveness without structured follow-up is uncertain. In outpatient settings, inconsistent post-screening interventions contribute to underdiagnosis and poor outcomes.
