Abstract
This keystone project is a self-developed bifold guide that maps out the "third spaces" that make Rochester feel like home. By highlighting local favorites like the Rundel Memorial Library, Boulder Coffee, and Cobb's Hill Park, I’ve curated a collection of libraries, museums, cafes, and parks that serve as the heartbeat of our community outside of home and work. Furthermore, I looked at each one through the lens of Ray Oldenburg’s book, The Great Good Place, breaking down how they act as "social levelers" and "neutral grounds" where anyone can belong. To make the guide more personal, I included my own reflections of each space along with interactive questions to get readers thinking about their own impact on the city. By adding QR codes for easy access to local resources, I wanted to create a practical tool that encourages Rochesterians to step out and escape isolation. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire people to intentionally engage with their surroundings and help build a more connected, vibrant, and welcoming Rochester for everyone.
