Abstract
Food systems are seen as deeply connected to environmental sustainability and resource use. One major issue within modern agriculture is the inefficiency of producing animal-based proteins, particularly beef, compared to plant-based foods such as beans. Large amounts of crops like corn and soy are grown to feed livestock rather than being consumed directly by others. This process leads to inefficient use of agricultural resources and contributes to environmental issues such as deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, and excessive water use.
