Abstract

For my third keystone I connected concepts from my Buyer Behavior course when analyzing evolving consumer behavior trends in correspondence to the company I will be working for upon graduation. Constellation Brands is a leading international producer and marketer of beer, wine, and spirits with operations in the U.S., Mexico, New Zealand, and Italy (Constellation Brands). In the third quarter of fiscal year 2026, net income decreased 18% compared to last year’s period. Alcohol consumption is dropping year-over-year especially among young adult consumers, yet direct contributors remain uncertain. Understanding that Constellation's sales declined significantly and the the wine and beer categories are projected to fall, this project attempts to determine what motivators are driving this change. The purpose of this study is to investigate current alcohol consumption patterns and the underlying factors driving consumer trends through a conducted survey, findings were then analyzed and connected to strategic implications for Constellation Brands portfolio and future investment opportunities.
