Abstract

Through Self-Determination Theory, we researched how different brand tactics influence a consumer's decision to buy a product. When experiencing flash deal, or FOMO, you are not truly supporting a brand because it is true to your identity, rather you feel pressured by time constraints and "never again deals." Our research aims to focus on how a consumer can support brands that not only represent their identity, but give them full autonomy to chose brands that care about their consumer wellbeing, and not just the transaction.
