Abstract
A crucial responsibility of the nursing professional development (NPD) leader is to guide the development of a department plan that supports the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals. A detailed plan includes structure, process, and outcome measures that create a framework to analyze department operations, evaluate programs, and determine achievement of departmental goals. The department plan is a realistic approach to measure the NPD department’s support of and success within the organization (Standish & Dickerson, 2017).
