Aims & Scope

Gatherings is located in upstate New York in the digital journal offerings at St. John Fisher University. Gatherings offers an interdisciplinary, intersectional, collaborative, and open-access forum for students, faculty, and the community to examine feminisms, gender and sexuality in their varied disciplinary, historical, transnational, theoretical, creative, and artistic dimensions. The editorial board is composed of feminist scholars from across New York State and is committed to promoting the scholarship of our region and welcoming to all scholars, artists, activists, and community members who are advancing the work of intersectional feminisms.

The editors invite submission of original scholarship in a variety of formats: article-length manuscripts (of no more than 10,000 words), reflective life writing, multimodal texts, digital/video submissions, and book reviews that might appropriately be published in Gatherings. We publish works from a wide range of disciplines in a variety of styles that engage feminisms at the intersections of race, culture, class, nation, ability, and/or sexuality. We are welcoming to the broadest range of scholars and creators, from undergraduate and graduate students to artists, community leaders, activists, and seasoned scholars. We welcome submissions for special issues of the Journal, especially those featuring themes that meet the needs of the historical moment, the needs of our upstate region, and that prompt dedicated deliberation from multiple perspectives.

Gatherings does not consider works that are under review elsewhere or that have been previously published.
