Abstract
This presentation covers the basics of burn care, created by nursing student Anna Brock in collaboration with Kelly Reed, a burn nurse from Upstate University Hospital's Clark Burn Center. The presentation walks through how to assess burns by size and depth, different types of burns, and outlines important treatment plans, including fluid resuscitation, pain management, wound care, and nutrition. It concludes by touching on the emotional and long-term impact of burn injuries. The presentation was part of a hands-on workshop that involved demonstrating different burn care supplies and how to use them.
