Abstract
A literature review on the possible adverse effects of artificial sweeteners on pregnant individuals and their fetus. Findings included PROM and spontaneous abortion in mothers who consumed artificial sweeteners, as well as effects on the placenta, maternal and fetal serum, amniotic fluid, and the mother's breastmilk. However further research is necessary to establish whether the artificial sweeteners caused preterm labor.
