Abstract

Waste and consumption are closely tied to environmental health, as modern lifestyles rely heavily on convenience-based products like fast fashion, single-use plastics, and packaged goods. While these items make everyday life easier, they generate massive amounts of waste that often end up in landfills or oceans, contributing to pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and harm to ecosystems and wildlife. Plastic waste, in particular, poses serious risks through ocean pollution and the spread of microplastics in water and human bodies. Additionally, overconsumption increases the demand for natural resources, leading to deforestation, habitat destruction, and increased carbon emissions. These environmental impacts also raise concerns about environmental justice, as waste is often concentrated in lower-income communities. Addressing these issues requires not only better waste management practices like recycling and composting, but also a shift toward more sustainable consumption habits.
