Abstract
This proposal advocates for installing Little Free Libraries on the St. John Fisher University campus to strengthen community, expand access to books, and support the university’s mission of collaboration, inclusion, and leadership. Drawing on the history and cultural impact of the Little Free Library movement, the project highlights how these small book-exchange boxes promote literacy, connection, and belonging, both on campus and in the greater Rochester community. The plan outlines an ideal first location, comparisons to successful implementations at peer universities, expert support from Fisher faculty and librarians, and a detailed budget with funding opportunities. Ultimately, the initiative aims to create a sustainable, student-centered tradition that enriches campus life and fosters a culture of sharing and learning.
