Abstract

This presentation evaluates current approaches to handling biologics, highlighting challenges in storage and preparation while emphasizing the critical role of pharmacy education in ensuring safe management. A review of the top 50 biologics by sales in 2021 identified common and unique handling requirements, underscoring the risks of improper storage, including aggregation and neutralizing antibody formation. As biologics' demand grows, enhanced pharmacist training and continuing education are essential for ensuring their safe and effective use, ultimately improving patient care.
