Abstract
The role of the US in our world’s environmental crisis is particularly significant, and one of the key causes and manifestations of this crisis in the United States is environmental racism. Racism has shaped life in the US even before the colonial era, and it continues today. For example, contemporary American incarceration has adapted the practices and thought patterns of slavery, and the history of American medical research also demonstrates a white American pattern of viewing black bodies as means to white ends.
