Abstract
The purpose of the study was to evaluate unstructured play with blocks as a method of understanding children’s spatial skills. Children with stronger spatial skills built larger block structures, suggesting that prompting specific play themes that support complex structures may improve children's broad spatial abilities. This project was presented as part of an invited research presentation at the U.S. Play Coalition in Bloomington, Indiana.
