Abstract

The research that will be presented is evaluating the safety of manipulating newly FDA-approved medications, specifically immediate-release tablets and capsules, for patients who cannot swallow pills/tablets whole. It addresses the lack of detailed information regarding "do not crush" warnings on package inserts. By analyzing chemical stability, physical stability, solubility, and pharmacokinetics, the study aims to determine if these medications can be safely crushed for administration. The primary audience will be ASHP midyear in December of 2025.
