Abstract
Diabetes remains a significant public health concern in Roatan, Honduras, where healthcare systems are less accessible, underfunded, and have limited resources compared to the United States. The American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) guidelines emphasize comprehensive diabetes management, including regular blood glucose monitoring, diet, exercise, and medication adherence. In a similar study conducted in 2018, data collected in Roatan, Honduras assessed the treatment and diabetes management of patients in that region. This study aims to reassess the current state of adult diabetes management and identify ongoing challenges associated with adherence to current ADA standards.
