Abstract

The course that I will be doing my keystone based off of is Intermediate Accounting 1 taught by Professor Liucci. In this course, we are required to write a few 1 page papers taking a company that we are interested in and analyzing their financial statements and footnotes. We relate what we see in the Form 10-K to what we have been learning in class. For my keystone, I want to take these papers a step further and pick 2 more companies that I have not yet looked at. I plan on the companies being in the same industry, and one company being bigger than the other. I will write a 10-15 page paper analyzing these companies main financial statements and related footnotes and identify key similarities and differences between the companies reporting style and significant accounting policies. Also, I will take a look at and reflect on the auditor's report. I will compute different ratios and compare them to the other company along with each company's comparative ratios to see how they have changed over the years. After my paper is finished, I plan to make a slideshow to present at the Honors Keystone Showcase and reflect on my findings and experience. This is an extension of a course assignment and can be explained to any audience!
