Issue Summary

The 2014 collection of student essays features a variety of topics and approaches. Lindsey Michaud studies Instragram to find out how users’ identities are developed and displayed in new ways on this new platform for sharing and expression. Shannon Dehoff takes a closer look at how politics and food are intimately connected. Caitlin Murphy and Samantha Johnson turn their eye to the global political scene, looking at the history and context of the Taliban and genocide in Bosnia and Rwanda respectively. Finally, Alysha Mercendetti considers the role of LGBTQ young adult literature in education.
